What’s your Favorite Leadership Style?

Constance Tournier shared with us that her favorite leadership style is transformational leadership, a model she discovered during her Master in Work and Organizational Psychology.

But what does this leadership model look like?

Transformational leaders inspire employees to exceed expectations and work toward a shared vision. A meta-analysis of 45 studies by Eagly et al. (2003) also found that female leaders tend to be more transformational than male leaders.

When we think about transformational leadership, we think of:

Idealized Influence: Acting as a role model and adhering to principles and values in decision-making.

Inspirational Motivation: Creating a vision and motivating others by offering support.

Individualized Consideration: Recognizing each individual’s unique strengths and providing personalized support.

Intellectual Stimulation: Encouraging innovative thinking and fostering continuous learning.

Additionally, a study by Khoo & Burch (2008) found that the ‘Colorful’ (histrionic) trait of the Hogan Development Survey (HDS) is linked to stronger transformational leadership, while the ‘Cautious’ (avoidant) and ‘Bold’ (narcissistic) traits are associated with weaker transformational leadership.

Now, it’s your turn to take a Hogan Assessment with us and receive coaching to lead like a transformational leader!
